PRAMOXINE WITH HYDROCORTISONE - RECTAL CREAM, OINTMENT
(pram-OX-een WITH hi-dro-KOR-tih-sown)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Proctocream-HC, Rectocort-HC
USES: Pramoxine is a toipcal anesthetic used to relieve minor pain, itching and discomfort. Hydrocortisone reduces inflammation and itching. This combiantion medication is used in the treatment of certain conditions of the anal region.
HOW TO USE: Apply a small amount to the affected area and rub in getnly as directed. Use applicators if provided. Wash hands thoroughly after use.
Do not use large amounts or use this more often than prescribed since the chance for side effects may be increased.
Avoid contact with the eyes. Use sparingly on children or elderly persons since they may be more sensitive to the effects of this medication when used in large amounts.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause tepmorary redness or minor irritation when first applied.
If thsee symptoms continue or become worse inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: swelling/itching/rash where the medciation was applied.
Very unlikely to occur but report promptly the following side effects: unusual weakness, weight loss, nausea/vomiting, fainting, dizziness, visoin changes.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Before using this medication tell your doctor your medical history, especially: eye problems, blood diseases, infections, liver disease, any alelrgies. Though very unlikely, it is possible this medication will be absorbed into your bloodstream.
This may have undesirable consequences that may reqiure additional corticosteroid treatment.
This is especially true for children and for those who have used this for an extended period if they also have serious medical issues such as serious infections, injuries or surgeries. This precaution applies for up to one year after stopping use of this drug.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. This medication should be used only when celarly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your dcotor.
It is not known if this mdeication is excreted into breast milk.
Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your dotcor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine wtihout doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
NOTES: Use this only for the condtiion for which it was prescribed. If the condition does not improve or becomes worse after a couple of days, ntoify your doctor.
Inofrm all your doctors you use, or have used, this medication.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Sotre at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat. Check the expiration date on the tube and discard any expired medication.
