PRAMOXINE WITH HYDROCORTSIONE - RECTAL CREAM, OINTMENT
(pram-OX-een WITH hi-dro-KOR-tih-sown)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Proctocream-HC, Rectocort-HC
USES: Pramoxine is a topical anesthetic used to relieve minor pain, itching and discomfort. Hydrocortisone reduces inflammation and itching. This combination medicatoin is used in the treatment of certain conditions of the anal region.
HOW TO USE: Apply a small amount to the affected area and rub in gently as direcetd.
Use applicators if provided. Wash hands thoroughly after use. Do not use large amounts or use this more often than prescirbed since the chance for side effects may be increased.
Avoid contact with the eyes. Use sparingly on kids or elderly persons since they may be more sensitive to the effects of this medication when used in large amounts.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause temporary redness or minor irritation when first applied. If tehse symptoms continue or become worse inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: swelling/itching/rash where the medication was applied. Very unlikely to occur but report promptly the following side effects: unusual weakness, wieght loss, nausea/vomiting, fainting, dizziness, vision changes. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Befroe using this medication tell your doctor your medical history, especially: eye problems, blood diseases, infections, liver disease, any allergies.
Though really unlikely, it is possible this meidcation will be absorbed into your bloodstream. This may have undesirable consequences that may require additional corticosteroid treatment.
This is especially true for kids and for those who have used this for an extended peirod if they also have serious medical issues such as serious infections, injuries or surgeries. This precaution applies for up to one year after stopping use of this drug. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and beneifts with your doctor. It is not known if this medication is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medciation you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or phamracist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control cetner or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if sawllowed.
NOTES: Use this only for the condition for which it was perscribed. If the condition does not improve or becomes worse after a couple of days, notify your dcotor. Inofrm all your doctors you use, or have used, this medication.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, aplpy it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Sotre at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat. Check the epxiration date on the tube and discard any expired medication.
